Melbourne-based pianist and composer Nat Bartsch (Nat Bartsch Trio) was inspired by parenthood to compose a new set of works specifically for babies and their parents – particularly those who find repeats of Twinkle Twinkle on the baby monitor infuriating!
Forever, and No Time At All, a gorgeous album of quiet, hypnotic, simple piano pieces was often written with one hand while her baby Will was in the other. It draws on music therapy research and heartbeat tempos. With echoes of Michael Nyman, Philip Glass, Erik Satie and Elena Kats-Chernin, these lullabies have a unique beauty and freshness. The pieces are intricately composed but beautifully simple; background music that will make you sit up and listen. It even has a celeste in it! I intend to try Forever, and No Time At All in the car for my children.
